Rebuilding journal search again

We're having to rebuild the search server again (previously, previously). It will take a few days to reindex all the content.

Meanwhile search services should be running, but probably returning no results or incomplete results for most queries.

Had some Celebration tea. Yesterday I went to my favorite cafe and got a slice of chocolate peanut butter roll cake, it was yummy. Since L. is busy today I've been trying to get some other friends of mine to go with me to trivia night tonight at my neighborhood pub but I don't know if they're interested.

The Ministry of Guidance and Other Stories by Golnoosh Nour

The Ministry of Guidance and Other Stories by Golnoosh Nour was excellent. It's a collection of modern, even rebellious, short stories offering a daily look at the Iranian culture.

One of the stories is called "Tehran Yaoi", which was most unexpected.

It's sometimes f/f, sometimes m/m, sometimes bi f/m.

hockey draw - woot!

I made foccacia. It was good.

We also drew our hockey game on Sunday! 1-1!

(We won for the first time a couple of weeks back and it was Very Good.)

hockey report )

I've spoken about how this is a tricksy year for hockey in a post earlier this year. But I am enjoying some of the games, even when we're getting beaten. And we are improving.

But it can still be frustrating to see players who aren't ready for this grade (and aren't improving) struggle in the face of it.

Had some cardamom cinnamon tea. My mother called me yesterday with some bad news, my sister's husband had to have heart surgery, I didn't even know he had any heart problems. This cancelled their vacation, I hope he's going to be OK, I absolutely love him.

The Mistress of the Shadowland, Second Book, The next Chapter

Please enjoy my next chapter.
The next scene will probably go on for several chapters, so today's has become a little smaller and I hope you don't mind it.

Thanks for reading and thank you for taking the time to comment. It means the world to me. ♥

Had some caramel vanilla tea. I want to make spaghetti for dinner tonight so I went to the grocery store to get sauce, decided to try a brand called Italian Market, I got the tomato sauce w/artichokes. I often buy the Paul Newman but they only had the bigass jars and I'm only making spaghetti for myself so I don't need that much.

I want to be a good ally but I don't go to Pride anymore because somebody hit or kicked me in the ass when my back was turned, so I'm not doing anything this weekend other than watch more CSI DVDs.

I just did some grocery shopping but I screwed up and bought raisins when I already had raisins, I just forgot I had them and didn't check before I went to the store. I'm going to go swimming this afternoon.

Hanging on the telephone

Well, so far, reports of my hiatus have been a bit exaggerated - as Mum has pointed out, BT are paying for the hotspot I'm currently using while waiting for the correct mini hub as per my last post's story of their screwup, (something tells me I will be needing the link they sent me for a rapid call back, as I'm not overly confident about the correct mini hub turning up tomorrow). Meanwhile, Olly Alexander's Eurovision is permanently stuck in my head due to the amount of time I have spent on hold doing battle! Nothing against the guy, (he actually went to art college here, and the local media practically reports on it every time he farts) but could quite happily never hear the song any more. Hoping it will be sorted soon though and I probably should apologise for the amount of ranty posts this week so far (and it's only Monday).

On the plus side the heatwave is finally over (I'm trying to ignore the usual clickbait spam that I'm still getting sent about 39 degree heatwaves on the way, but hoping this isn't the one time they got it right - who am I kidding though with this rubbish?).

Anyway, since I'm trying for a few less Ranty McRantFace posts for a bit, and also conscious that I haven't done a lot of Fannish 50 ramble lately, I'll quickly do one of those.

Say you come across a show you think you like the sound of, only it was cancelled before you got round to it (or you get a few episodes in and then find out it didn't get renewed) do you still carry on anyway, or decide not to bother once you know it's not going anywhere (and left on a cliffhanger)? Something I've been thinking about since I finally got round to checking out Outer Range (which I think was recommended to me by one of those Shows to Watch If You like Show X lists - considering the subject matter, probably Dark, which is one of my all time top five). I did know going into it that it had been decided not to renew for season 3, already have writing ideas for once I have better wifi, but find myself feeling frustrated at the knowledge that I won't get questions answered and have moments of wondering how much it's worth it in that situation.

The museum had lots of gorgeous art from all over Asia in lots of different media. I've never seen Indian animation before. The drag queens were a lot of fun to watch too, I only wish my friend had shown up. He texted me that he was too tired. Also I have to remember to bag my own food next time I go there, the shrimp veggie rice noodle thing I had was tasty but much too overpriced.

ponderings

I kind of want to request more options for Just Married. But I don't have the time or energy to write a letter. This weekend is non-stop. Tonight I opted out of a movie I kind of wanted to see (Mickey 17 if you were wondering) because I'm just THAT TIRED and wanted time out.

I have no idea if these are valid, or behind paywalls or what. They're just articles I've been collecting for a bit.

I mean, I'm happy, but also tired... And I don't really have time to write (or do anything) right now. Partly work, but partly also my life, and partly also *gestures at the world* You know.

Have I mentioned that I've managed to grow broccoli in the garden? It's kind of AMAZING.

Garden of Sel 20250422_153717

I don't have a more recent pic of the 'broccoli bed' (the one with the netting on it) where the broccoli are larger-sized. I'll try to take one tomorrow morning.
