Real crappy title…but it’s late and I couldn’t come up with anything better…
She rested her head limply on my shoulder with a small sigh, as Daniel gently rubbed her back. We all knew it, but the evidence hit hard on us all. She wasn’t infallible. Her device couldn’t stop the Jaffas, and the slaughter was inevitable. And she felt responsible. A dry sob shook her whole body, and I pulled her closer, trying to give her the kind of warmth even the blanket she was wrapped in couldn’t provide.
I wished I cold tell her it would all go away. But it’d be a lie. And friends don’t lie to each other.
