I really needed to do this...
Title: Untitled
Rating: G
AN: The story I wrote for my advanced English exam, liberally inspired by SGA, especially by the Elizabeth scene in the garden in ‘Home’ (1x09) I worked around that image in my head.
Written in 20 minutes :P
The sentence in bold is the input we were given at uni. And I hope I've rememberd everything right.
It's slightly more than 300 words , so I'd appreciate it if you commented on it if you have a couple of minutes. It might help.
That would make the pairing Liz/Simon, even if the man is physically described as John Sheppard *whistles innocently*
Sophie was sitting at her kitchen table. Around her was only silence, expect for the steady, dull sound of the leaking tap in the far corner of the room. It would be no use calling a plumber, as she wouldn’t be living in this house for much longer.
A mission in another galaxy had been the last thing on her mind when she had received the call. A shiver ran up her spine and into her neck at the thought and she hugged her knees tighter to her chest.
She wasn’t extremely petite, but short enough to be able to rest her heels on the edge of the seat. It wasn’t physically comfortable, but even if she thought it ridiculous, she felt safer curled up like that.
She was sure an anthropologist could give her a plausible explanation for this irrationality of hers, but she was way beyond caring.
The telltale sound of shuffling feet caught her attention, and she lifted her head to see a slender frame emerge from the corridor that led to the bedroom.
Their German shepherd mimicked her actions, acknowledging the man’s presence with a weak wag of its tail, but remained crouched at its mistress’ side.
“What are you doing still up?” Christopher asked, running a hand through his mussed black hair.
“I couldn’t fall asleep. The tap, you know.” She easily lied, gesturing in the general direction of the sink.
“I’ll fix it tomorrow.” His off-hand comment told Sophie he hadn't bought it.
“Are you okay? You’ve been a little…off, lately.”
“Yes, I guess I’m just a little tired.”
She was supposed to die the next week, to avoid questions on her whereabouts. In a car crash that would leave no remains to identify. And at that same moment she would be traveling through hyperspace, on her way to a base where she would be studying alien technology.
No, she wasn’t okay.
